ABOUT
DMA Building Design is an Adelaide-based studio specialising in residential and small-scale commercial projects — from custom homes and renovations to granny flats and additions. We combine over 30 years of building industry experience with a strong design foundation to create practical, thoughtful, and site-responsive spaces.
Led by a designer with a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architectural Design, our studio offers more than standard drafting services. We bring architectural thinking into every stage of the process — balancing creativity with buildability, council requirements, and your personal vision.
Where a typical draftsperson may focus mainly on technical compliance, we go a step further. We consider how a space feels, how it functions in everyday life, and how it fits within its environment — all while staying grounded in real-world construction knowledge.
We believe good design is more than just lines on a page — it’s about creating spaces that work beautifully for the people who live, work, and grow in them.

PROCESS
Initial Consultation
We start with a conversation to understand your vision, needs, site conditions, and budget. We’ll explain our services, your approval pathway, and answer any questions.
Site Visit & Analysis
If the project moves forward, we conduct a site visit to assess orientation, context, and opportunities. This helps us design in harmony with the environment.
Concept Design
We translate your ideas into initial design concepts, exploring layout, form, and function. You’ll receive drawings or 3D visuals to help you visualise the design.
Design Development
Once a concept is approved, we refine the details — including materials, spatial relationships, and compliance with planning and building codes.
Documentation
We prepare all the required plans and documents for council submission, building certification, and construction. This includes Development Applications (DA), and working drawings.
Coordination & Support
We liaise with consultants (engineers, surveyors, certifiers) as needed, and support you through council or certifier approval processes.
Ready to Build
Once approved, your builder has a clear and comprehensive set of plans to get started. If needed, we stay available to clarify design intent or respond to site queries.
